Depending on where you come from, Sweet 16 birthdays may be celebrated in different ways, with different traditions, but one thing’s for certain - to throw the best Sweet 16 birthday party, you’ll need to have a solid organization. Such parties tend to have lots of moving parts and are usually attended by large numbers of people, so if you are the person tasked with the bulk of the organization, you need to have a good and clear plan on how everything should be. If you are looking for help with organizing a Sweet 16 celebration, we may be able to help you. In the next lines, we’ll go over the main aspects of the party that you need to take into account and also give you some ideas to help you make sure that this will be a celebration to be remembered!

Party theme

It's not necessary for there to be a particular theme for the party, but thawing one can really help set the mood and also make the rest of the planning easier for you, as you’d know what you need to be focusing on. Here, you must take your time to talk to the birthday person and discuss different ideas until you can both agree on a given theme.

Logistics

After you’ve decided on a specific theme, you must ensure that the party will have sound logistics, as those will be the foundations of the entire celebration. There are two major logistical elements that you need to take care of: date and time, and location.

Date and time

Once you have your party theme, the next task is to determine the date and time of the party. Note that it’s possible, if not likely, that the theme will play a major role in the choosing of the date and time. For instance, if you are organizing a Sweet 16 celebration with a pool party theme, then it’s best to make it during the day. On the other hand, if it’s going to be a Highlighter party, with glow sticks, glow bracelets, neon lights, and black lights, then the party would obviously need to be during the darker part of the day.

Location

When talking about location, the first and most obvious thing to consider is if the party is going to be at home or at a rented event venue. If you go for the former option, organization is going to be easier and the date of the celebration can actually be determined at a later time. However, if you want to rent a place for the event, you must choose the specific venue location early on and rent it ASAP, because it may not be available later if you procrastinate.

List of Guests

Here, you must once again closely consult the birthday person about the guests that will be invited. Make sure to ask for contact information for each of the guests, so you can reach all of them and inform them and inform them about any last-minute changes, if such occur. Another reason you may want to be able to contact the guests is if you decide to request their help to prepare a surprise for the birthday person that he/she will not expect.

The Menu

To an extent, the party’s menu will be determined by the theme. If the celebration will have formal undertones, then you’ll need a suitably formal for dinner. On the other hand, if we are talking about something more relaxed, then you should go with a casual menu. Either way, the menu must be decided upon beforehand, so that you can then decide who will be providing the catering services. In case you are throwing the party at a rented venue, it’s a good idea to ask for a list of recommended caterers in case you haven’t already decided on a particular one.

Entertainment

This won’t be a regular birthday party, but a special, once-in-a-lifetime coming-of-age celebration, so you must make sure to organize it with suitable entertainment. Luckily, there are tons of options to choose from, such as participation games, live music, dance contests, karaoke, and more. Here, once again, what you decide upon will largely be determined by the party’s theme. However, whatever the theme, it’s always a good idea to have a professional DJ to help you set the mood and get the party going. A DJ can also provide their own creative ideas that can help make the party even more fun.

Decorate with Sweet 16 flowers and balloons

Last, but certainly not least, an unforgettable Sweet 16 party requires an equally unforgettable decoration. Whether the party will be at home or at a rented venue, you need to make sure to decorate the place in accordance with the theme of the event. However, regardless of the theme, there are two types of decoration that are a must at any Sweet 16 party - flowers and balloons. Decorating the entire place with dozens of colorful balloons and Sweet 16 flowers is sure to put everybody in a celebratory mood and get them hyped for an awesome experience. It will also leave a fond and bright memory in the mind of the birthday person.

So there you have it, your blueprint for the most amazing Sweet 16 party. All that’s left to do now is get down to work and make sure that the birthday boy or girl has a 16-th birthday that they’ll remember their whole lives!

What Are the Most Popular Autumn Flowers? The first brown, yellow, and orange leaves have just appeared on the trees and there was a chilly breeze early in the morning - autumn has officially started. Whether you feel melancholy for the departure of summer or excitement about the arrival of the colder part of the year, there’s one thing that you can’t deny - there’s a special type of beauty in fall that cannot be found in any of the other seasons. The colorful trees, the fading warmth of the orange sunsets, the mysterious morning mists, and, of course, the flowers of fall.

Although, in autumn, nature slowly prepares itself for its winter sleep, and it’s less common for plants to grow or bloom during this season, there’s still a surprising number of beautiful fall flowers that you can plant in your garden or gift to a special person.

Roses

You wouldn’t normally think of roses as autumn flowers, but, to the surprise of many, rose bushes are actually quite resilient and would often bloom right up until the beginning of winter.

Roses are typically associated with love, passion, and romance, making them the perfect gift for your significant other, or for someone you have feelings for. However, aside from the well-known red rose, there are many other differently-colored types of roses, including yellow, white, pink, orange, burgundy, and more. This means that you can gift rose bouquets in other situations that aren’t necessarily related to love and romance, although the latter still remains the best fit for this type of flower.

Sunflowers

Although most people wouldn’t normally associate the coming of fall with cheerfulness and joy, that is exactly the type of feelings evoked by the sight of bright-yellow sunflowers. The sunflower is one of the most typical late-season flowers and a bouquet of these is certain to uplift the spirits of anyone who’s been having the autumn blues.

A sunflower bouquet is a great gift for almost every situation - it can be a gift for the birthday of your mother, sister, or friend, or you can buy it as a romantic gift for your wife, girlfriend, or crush if you want something less conventional than a roses bouquet.

In general, the sunflower is associated with loyalty, happiness, and adoration. In some places of the world, such as China, the sunflower also symbolizes longevity, vitality, and good luck.

All in all, if you are looking for a universal type of flower during autumn, the sunflower is a great option.

Snapdragons

The Snapdragon is a less conventional type of flower known for its long stalk, and unique, brightly-colored blooms. Snapdragons come in many different colors, including white, red, pink, and yellow, making them a great addition to any autumn bouquet. Across history and different cultures, the snapdragons have carried many different meanings. Primarily, this type of flower is often associated with grace due to their height and with strength due to its ability to thrive in harsh conditions.

Chrysanthemums

There are many kinds of charming autumn flowers, but if I had to pick one as the best, that flower would be the chrysanthemum. Like the sunflower, the chrysanthemum blooms primarily in fall, but unlike the sunflower, it offers a wide variety of colors and subtypes.

Since the chrysanthemum is a typical autumn flower, it’s often associated with beauty and joyfulness in spite of the coming harsher weather and the arrival of winter. In some places, like Australia, this is also the traditional Mother's Day flower, as the nickname of chrysanthemums is “mums”. In China, this is also the flower of good luck and longevity.

Additionally, since there are several chrysanthemum colors, the meaning associated with the flower also varies based on its specific color.

Red chrysanthemums

As is with most red flowers, the red chrysanthemums are primarily associated with romantic love, passion, and deep affection towards a beloved person. This makes the chrysanthemum a great alternative to the all-too-common red rose bouquets, as well as a great addition to a mixed red flowers arrangement, to surprise your significant other.

Yellow chrysanthemums

In older, Victorian traditions, the yellow chrysanthemums actually carried a negative meaning: they symbolized sorrow or neglected love. However, in more modern times, the meaning conveyed by them has shifted quite a bit. In the United States, for example, the yellow chrysanthemum is currently seen as a flower that symbolizes happiness, joviality, and cheerfulness, making it the perfect flower gift for someone’s birthday celebration.

White chrysanthemums

In many cultures, the white chrysanthemums are exclusively used as remembrance and condolences flowers, but it’s important to note that this kind of chrysanthemum is also commonly associated with purity, innocence, loyalty, and honesty, meaning that it can be used for a lot of different occasions and be added to a variety of flower arrangements.

Violet chrysanthemums

The violet chrysanthemums are often used as well-wishing flowers and included in get-well bouquets. They are a good choice as a gift for someone recovering from a health problem, and a way to wish them a quick recovery.

Green chrysanthemums

The green chrysanthemum is associated with a list of positive meanings, and it symbolizes rebirth, reinvigoration, youthfulness, vigor, and renewal. It’s a great flower for a number of occasions and can be added to all kinds of flower arrangements.

As you can see, the chrysanthemum is the perfect kind of autumn flower, fit for all kinds of occasions and close people. Whether you want to surprise your beloved for your anniversary together, get a flower gift for the birthday of a close friend, or simply buy flowers for your mother, you can’t go wrong with a delightful chrysanthemum bouquet.

Who said that autumn has to be a depressing and gloomy season? It’s just a matter of perspective, and gifting someone close to you a nice bouquet of autumn flowers is a great way to change theirs, and make them fall in love with the beauty of autumn!

How Can I Send Flowers to Someone in China?

China is a massive country, home to some 1.4 billion people. It’s also the most populous nation on Earth, with an even larger population than India—a country that’s also home to a lot of people. But while there are plenty of Indians and Chinese people around the world, it’s not every day you meet someone who was born in China and lives there still. If you have friends or family members who were born in China but now live elsewhere for work or school, sending them flowers can be a great way to show them how much you care about them. After all, what better way to say “I miss you” than with a beautiful bouquet of flowers? And if your loved one happens to be away from home because they’re going on vacation… well then sending them flowers from their home country is doubly fortuitous!

How to send flowers to China

The first thing to note is that you can’t just walk into any garden center and buy a bouquet of flowers to send to China. For starters, not all flowers are both seasonal and hardy enough to survive the shipping process from your country to theirs. And even if you find a bouquet that is, it’s likely that a florist in your area won’t have the right vase to display them in. So to send flowers to China, you’ll need to find an online florist that specializes in international flower delivery. You can then select the bouquet you want to send, put in the relevant delivery information, and pay for your purchase using a credit or debit card (or PayPal, if you prefer).

To send flowers to someone in China, you can either order the flower from an online florist in China, or from local florists that can deliver flowers to China. Keep in mind that if you order from a florist in China, you might have to find one that supports English. Also, keep in mind that due to the presence of the Great Firewall of China, people in China have to reply on VPNs (翻墙软件) to visit many foreign websites. If you order from a florist in your own country, please make sure they can indeed deliver flowers internationally.

What are the most popular flower types in China?

The most popular flower types in China are Chrysanthemums, Orchids, and Roses. And though many Chinese people might not be familiar with Western bouquets, they will all have seen these flowers in Chinese culture. The Chrysanthemum, for example, is a symbol of wealth and honor in China. In many Western countries, they’re also used to celebrate Halloween and the New Year, but in China, they’re a symbol of Autumn. Orchids are one of China’s national flowers, and are used in celebrations of longevity and friendship. Oranges, on the other hand, are a symbol of prosperity in Chinese culture. Roses, meanwhile, are popular for Valentine’s Day in China, but are also chosen for a wide variety of other celebrations and special occasions.

What are the best days of the week to send flowers to China?

In terms of what day you should send flowers to China, there are two things to consider: the best time of year to send flowers to China, and the best time of day to send flowers to China. The first thing to think about is that Chinese New Year is an extremely popular time to send flowers to China. This is the occasion when many Chinese people send flowers to family members and close friends, so if you want your bouquet to stand out, you’ll likely want to send it before or after this massive celebration. Or you could consider sending flowers to China on Chinese Valentine’s Day, which happens on the 7th day of the Chinese New Year. The best time of day to send flowers to China is in the early evening. Many Chinese people will be either at work or in school during the day, so you’ll want to arrange for your bouquet to be delivered at a time when they can appreciate it.

How much does it cost to send flowers to China?

The price you pay to send flowers to China will be determined by several factors, including your budget and the type of bouquet you choose. However, in general, you can expect to pay anywhere from $25 to as much as $200 for a bouquet of flowers to be delivered to China. That being said, there are a couple of things you can do to lower the price of your bouquet. First, make sure you check to see if any coupons or special offers are available for online florists that deliver to China. You might also want to consider buying a cheaper bouquet, or even just a single stem to represent a larger bouquet—after all, what matters most is that you’re showing your loved one you care.

Conclusion

Flowers are a great gift for pretty much any occasion, and they’re a particularly fitting gift for a loved one who is away from home. If you have friends or family members who were born in China but now live in another country, sending them flowers is a great way to show them you care. China is home to many of the world’s most populous cities, and while you might not ever meet someone who was born and raised in China, it’s good to know that they’re out there. And now you know how to send flowers to China, too!

Getting the Right Flowers for an Alice in Wonderland Garden Party Types of Flowers in Alice in Wonderland

Alice in Wonderland is Lewis Carroll’s quirky, eccentric, colourful – and maybe a little bit psychedelic – fairy tale. So, of course it’s a winning idea for a party theme. There’s so many elements of the story to choose from, will you go for the Mad Hatter’s tea party, Queen’s garden with a game of croquet, or the crazy talking flower garden? One thing is sure throughout any of these themes – flowers.

Why not carry the twist on reality through to your own party? Use a mix of real and fake flowers to create your own magical world.

Types of Flowers in Alice in Wonderland

There are several types of flowers featured in the story. The most famous ones are possibly the roses (red and white) because of the queen’s obsession with them. However, there are lots more:

  • Tulip
  • Iris
  • Daisy
  • Pansy
  • Sweetpea
  • Blue bonnet
  • Violets
  • Calla lily
  • Lily of the valley
  • Lilac
  • Sunflower
  • Chrysanthemum
  • Morning glory
  • Daffodil
  • Tiger lily
  • Dandy lion
  • Thistle
  • Yellow daisy
  • Rosebud
  • Dandy pup

Alice in Wonderland Talking Flowers

Alice in Wonderland Talking Flowers

At one point in the story, Alice walks into a talking garden where the daisies are a little outspoken. All of the above flowers feature in the talking garden. If real samples are not something you can easily get your hands on to, then there are lots of ideas on Pinterest about how to create your very own. If you are hosting the party in your own garden, why not stick some random goggle eyes on a collection of your own plants to bring them to life?

Alice in Wonderland Tea Party

Alice in Wonderland Tea Party

This is possibly the most famous part of the story and the most popular for a party theme. Use lots of flowers here and think of extraordinary ways to present them. It’s named “Mad Hatter’s” for a reason. Stuff flowers into tea pots and tea cups, use moss as a table runner, you could even put a small tree in the middle for your centre piece.

Alice in Wonderland Rose Garden

Alice in Wonderland Rose Garden

Create your own rose garden for a spot of croquet. Of course, you don’t really need us to explain the hero flower in this idea but what can you do to make it as Alice in wonderland as possible? Unless you already have lots and lots of beautiful red and white rose bushes in your garden, you may need a bit of craft help here. Your hand-made roses are also your chance to allude to the painted rose bush from the book. Leave some of them half painted red, making sure to let a few drops of paint dry underneath – remember the scene in the animated movie when the cards are painting the roses and the paint’s falling off?

Alice in Wonderland Fancy Dresses

Alice in Wonderland Fancy Dress

You can make your Alice in Wonderland party more fun with fancy dresses. You can choose a nice dress for your little girl inspired by any character from the movie. There are many options to choose from — a beautiful long gown with a fitted bodice, a short dress with ruffles, a cute skirt with a puffy sleeve, a red velvet dress with a ruffled skirt, a sparkly dress with a low back, etc. Little girls can look super adorable in these dresses. You can also choose a dress for yourself inspired by any character. There are many adult fancy dress costumes to choose from. These are available in many sizes. You can also choose a nice costume to make you look good.

Conclusion

Alice in Wonderland is one of those special themes that you can really go all out with. Make it colourful and very floral, you’ll be on to a winner. Plus, when you love a chance to dress up, whether that’s in full costume or just fancy dresses, your guests will be hard-pressed not to fall down a rabbit hole of wonder.

How to choose special occasion flowers? Any celebration and festivity is incomplete without the glorious presence of flowers. And this is true all over the world. Whether you’re in a very hip city in New Jersey or reside in a small town of Thailand, it can be said with confidence that flowers are a part of your life. The emergence of online flower shops have made the process of selecting and buying flowers even more easier than taking a stroll through a flower-filled park!

Yet, when it comes to choosing the best and the most suitable flowers for a particular occasion, a lot of us will feel clueless. Flowers are not merely lifeless decorations, but they have unique and important meanings and symbolisms attached to them. Without knowing them, you cannot make an impactful use out of flowers.

Besides, the color, type, shape, and size of a bouquet or flower arrangement are also important factors, aside from the user’s personal preferences. Keeping all these things in mind might get overwhelming at times, especially if you don’t plan them in advance.

This is why here I’ve described a few conventional rules and traditions regarding choosing flowers based on different occasions.

Flowers for weddings

A wedding requires flowers in various forms, including the bridal bouquet, the centerpiece, and decorations. Depending on the theme of the wedding, you can either choose a floral palette with numerous bright and beautiful colors, or stick to a single color scheme.

The selection of color schemes, types, and designs of flower arrangements also depend on the venue of the wedding. Online flower shops will give you a better idea with visuals when you’re up for making a decision. If you need flower delivery in Los Angeles area or its surroundings, there are many online florists who will do a great job for you. If you’re planning for an indoor wedding, then sophisticated, single-color bouquets and decorations will look great. And if you’re planning for a wedding on the beach, or amidst a meadow, or over a cliff overlooking the ocean, colorful and bright flowers that give off a tropical vibe will be absolutely gorgeous.

Flowers for Romantic Occasions

Whenever you’re in need of a romantic flower bouquet, the name Rose invariably comes to your mind, isn’t it? Well, it doesn’t have to be so boring anymore. Nowadays, flowers like tulips, lilies, gerberas, orchids, and alstroemerias are winning hearts for their beauty and elegance, and are taking up a permanent place in the ‘Romantic flowers’ category.

For Valentine’s Day, go with colorful and long-stemmed tulips instead. Your significant other will be blown over no doubt. Make first dates special with a bunch of lilies or gerberas and bring a smile to your special lady’s face. Although, if you’re planning to propose, classic and conventional long-stemmed red roses are still hard to beat! For anniversaries too, you can choose anything from chrysanthemums, sunflowers, gerbera daisies, carnations, and more. Forgot about your anniversary? It is very easy to get a same-day Anniversary flowers delivery at your doorstep in Los Angeles, or anywhere in the city. Online flower shops are here to the rescue.

Flowers for your mother

Moms and flowers have a special bond. Whenever you gift your mom some of her favorite flowers, you’ll make her day, and week! Flowers are so intimate and special, almost like the relationship you share with her. You can gift your mom flowers on Mother’s Day, her birthday, your birthday (the day she became a mom), or virtually any other day to make her happy.

Carnations, specially the white ones, have traditionally been associated with mothers since ages. However, you don’t have to stick to it if your mom prefers colorful tulips or fragrant roses. There’s no fixed formula to follow for moms, and gifting according to your mom’s personal choice will be the best way.

Birthday flowers

Birthdays are one of the most important occasions to gift flowers. The common norm for birthdays is choosing vibrant and colorful flowers that brighten up the mood, and flowers like Lilies, Sunflowers, Daisies, and Chrysanthemums are associated with youth, life, and new beginnings. So, symbolically too, they make great birthday gifts. However, if the birthday boy or girl likes sober and sophisticated flowers in white, blue, or pastel pink, don’t hesitate to choose them. If you’re getting a birthday flower delivery from online flower shops, choose the exact date of the event to ensure maximum freshness of the flowers.

If you’re planning to pick flowers for a newborn baby, you can go with gender-based colors- pink for the girl and blue for the boy. Offbeat flowers like peonies, hydrangeas, or orchids will also be great choices.

Sympathy flowers

Sympathy flowers for occasions like funerals or memorial services are commonly chosen from lighter shades like white, blue, pink, or yellow. But nowadays, funeral sprays or centerpieces in colorful and bright shades are also very common. In fact, gifting such bright and colorful bouquets to the family of a deceased person will help overcome the grief and look towards a better future. After all, good byes are hard, but inevitable. So, the best we can do is preserving them in our memory and carry on with our lives.

So, this is how you choose flowers for different occasions. If you’re intending to send a message with your floral gift, make sure that the flower meanings match with your emotions. That’s all it is about.

Prepping and Conditioning Your Flowers For Longevity and Brilliance From the moment that flowers are harvested to the time that they’re selected and arranged in  vases, they must be handled delicately. More importantly, as the blooms are cut from their shrubs the care or lack thereof that is given to them will determine just how long that floret will last. For florists, a flower’s longevity can either contribute to or detract from their bottom line, so to say that flower conditioning is critical is a definite understatement. Here are four of the most commonly used cut flowers for flower arrangements and the sort of preparation and conditioning required for them to flourish.

Sunflowers

Once receiving your cut sunflowers, place them in lukewarm water and give them a fresh (diagonal) cut. It is important to ensure that the stem is submerged in water as you cut in order to prevent air bubbles in the stem. Once you have all of your stems cut, add lukewarm water and flower food to a clean container and place all of your fresh sunflowers in the bucket. Place your container of blooms in a cold floral refrigerator (if available) until you’re ready to use it. Keep sunflowers out of direct sunlight and away from strong winds. Change out your container’s water every 2 days.

Hydrangea

Similar to sunflowers, hydrangeas tend to form clots in their stems that may prevent water passage to the heads of the flower. This causes premature wilting, browning, and drying of the bloom. The best way to prevent this from happening is by using some sort of Quick Dip product. Quick Dip helps in the hydration process by improving the flow of liquids through the stem.  Once you receive your hydrangeas, give them a diagonal cut while submerged in water and then dip them (for 1 second) in your Quick Dip solution before placing them in a container with flower food. This will increase the chances of water absorption and decrease the likelihood of clots forming in the hydrangea stem. In addition, hydrangeas are able to absorb water through their actual blooms (the heads of the flowers) so right before storing your container spray the hydrangea heads with clean water until they are dripping of water. Keep your hydrangeas in a cool and dark room until you’re ready to use them. Change out your container’s water every 2 days.

Rose

Roses, like hydrangea, can be very delicate flowers to work with and the way you care for them will tell you just how long your blooms will last. Upon receiving your roses, give your stems a fresh diagonal cut while submerged in water. Being careful not to take too much of the length off of the stem, you’ll want to cut at least one inch off of the bottom. Place your freshly cut stems in a fresh container containing flower food. Similar to the hydrangea, roses are able to absorb water through their heads so feel free to spray clean water to all of your rose heads to enhance water absorption. Store your roses in a dark cooler/floral refrigerator until your ready to use them. If you don’t have a floral cooler place them in a cool and dark room, making sure to keep them away from any sunlight. Change out your container’s water every 2 days.

Carnations

Freshly cut carnations can last up to three weeks with proper care and attention. Cut your carnations underwater at a diagonal slant. You’ll want to hydrate your flowers in a clean container containing warm water and flower food. Once your carnations are cut and placed in their buckets, store them in a dark floral cooler until you’re ready to use them. Change out your container’s water every 2 days.

Regardless of the type of flower, ensure that the bloom’s foliage remains above the waterline. Fallen foliage that gets into the water becomes bacteria forming and can shorten the life of your flowers and flower arrangements. As florists, especially florists in the Las Vegas area, it is important to ensure that your blooms are long-lasting and vibrant. A same-day flower delivery in Las Vegas requires quick floral arranging in order to fulfill these last-minute orders, and, as such, pre-conditioning will prove to be a tremendous benefit to growing your customer base. Having one of the biggest flower markets in the country, a flower delivery in Las Vegas, and customer loyalty isn’t guaranteed until your floral company has a proven track record for fresh, long-lasting blooms!

Best Flowers to Plant in Winter Damon Culbert, Indian Fire Bowl Company

Even though it’s gloomy outside, this doesn’t mean our gardens should look the same. With everybody spending much more time in their homes this winter, it could be vital to create a welcoming and beautiful outdoor space to enjoy. Gardening grew massively in popularity through the summer of 2020, providing a hobby for countless people stuck at home that produces visible results to be enjoyed.

However, the winter can be a bit demoralising, especially for new gardeners, when the flowers we plant at peak times die or hibernate in the cold. To combat this, planting flowers and plants that thrive in winter gives your garden purpose throughout the year and means you can continue to retreat to a colourful and calming space no matter the season.

We at the Indian Fire Bowl Company carried out some research to find out what the most popular winter flowers on Instagram were to give you an indication of how you can create a stunning and on-trend winter garden.

The top 5 flowers that thrive in winter

1. Holly - 1,066,776 posts

The quintessential Christmas plant, the holly’s bright red berries make for beautiful pictures. Adding this bush to your garden may also attract birds throughout the winter when fruit is scarce.

Holly bushes are fairly low-maintenance, enjoying partial shade and perfectly suiting flower borders or patios. There are a huge range of holly variations, some without the signature spiked leaves, so you can choose a plant that best suits the needs of your garden.

2. Quince - 892,580 posts

Flowering quince bushes are thorny shrubs that produce beautiful flowers in red, orange, white or pink. Another fairly easy to grow bush, quince doesn’t need much water but flowers best in full sunlight, so consider how the winter sun will affect the placement of this plant in your garden.

3. Snowdrops - 364,112 posts

Snowdrops produce dainty flowers, typically in white but they come in a variety of colours. They flower often between January and March and, as a perennial, will continue to flower for several years.

Plant these flowers in partial shade and keep the soil moist for the best chances of long life.

4. Pansies - 224,892 posts

Pansies are a very hardy flower which can survive very low temperatures. These flowers also bloom several times so if you lose flowers in significantly cold weather, they are likely to grow back again, filling your garden with regular colour.

An ideal pot plant for the winter months, though pansies don’t do well in hotter temperatures, so they may not survive through the summer months depending on your climate.

5. Cyclamen - 176,684 posts

Hardy cyclamen fare excellently in cold weather and provide a great amount of colour when not much else is flowering. They also complement snowdrops when planted together in shady borders or at the base of trees.

Tips for winter gardening

When it actually comes to winter time, here are a few jobs you should do to make sure your garden is looking its best and can be enjoyed to the fullest even when the temperature drops to its lowest.

1. Tidy up

  • Rake up leaves to prevent slippery paths and add them to your compost heap.
  • If you have one, clear and cover your pond to protect your local wildlife.

2. Compost

  • Add a layer of compost to your plants to protect them from frost.
  • Add mulch for an extra layer of protection and vital nutrients for wildlife to feed on.

3. Plant care

  • Prune roses to prevent wind rock.
  • Protect young trees by covering them with a fleece or polythene.
  • Wrap up plant pots that contain shrubs to protect their roots from freezing.

While winter can often feel colourless and lifeless, incorporating flowers like the ones on our list will ensure your garden is filled with life. This will be especially beneficial with the rise in home working and continued stay at home orders.

What's the Best Kind of Flowers to Bring on a First Date? A first date is full of uncertainty, as each partner ask themselves tons of questions: What am I going to wear? How should I behave myself? Will they like me or not? Should I give her flowers? What flowers would be the best on the first date? The list of questions is endless.  Fewer things are as uncertain in life as a first date.

To bring flowers or not

While some women would appreciate flowers on a first date, others seem to be against the idea. Also, some men find the modern woman as being too easy to scare or unpredictable, and for that reason they think flowers may be too much on a first date. Additionally, people barely know each other on the first date, so they may not be aware of the other’s taste, and thus they play it safe by not bringing flowers.

Be ready to handle the situation

All the same, if you decide to bring flowers on the first date, you need to be sure that you can handle all that comes with them, since showing up at the venue of the date with a bunch of flowers while appearing uneasy may send mixed signals, or make you appear to be trying too hard. You may consider seeing how the date goes, and if it turns out incredibly well and you have a friendly conversation that flows naturally, then you can send her flowers the next day as a sign of appreciation for a great date, or you can bring the flowers to your second date.

Some great flower choices

With the increase in people hooking up online through dating sites such as https://www.happymatches.com/, these potential partners do not know each other’s likes, so it is essential to use some intelligence and advice to make an excellent flower presentation on the first date. You can rarely go wrong enlisting the services of a local florist for the freshest flowers and first-class service and advice. Going to a florist as opposed to a box store gives the impression of having put in the extra effort. Keep the whole thing simple to avoid appearing as if you are trying too hard. The following flowers are some excellent choices for a first date, and will most likely please her:

Lisianthus

This flower has an outstanding rose-like beauty, and seems delicate but lasts long, hence keeping her thinking of you. It comes in several colors, but purple ones are more common. As a flower that you don’t see every day, it will show that you put in some effort as well as portray your expertise, which you will have gained from your florist.

Asiatic lily

The yellow or orange ones are a great pick for a first date. The best thing about Asiatic lilies is that they have no fragrance, so you need not worry that she may not like the scent of your gift or is allergic to it.

Single rose (avoid red ones for the first date)

A red rose is associated with romance, so it may be too early to bring it on the first date, but that is for you to figure out. Orange roses would be great, and although they open quite quickly, they last a long time, and the sight of an open rose is just amazing.

Purple carnation

They may be ordinary, but the purple color will melt her heart. These flowers also last for a longer time—about two weeks—so they will keep her memories of you alive for some time.

Gerbera daisy

This flower expresses cheerfulness. It looks so warm and cheery, and without an iota of doubt it will leave a smile on her face, and is thus apt for a first date.

Conclusion

Flowers can be a great thing on the first date, when done correctly. Getting flowers with some meaning, for example orchids, which signify delicate beauty, or Gerbera daisies, which show happiness, will likely earn you extra points. Also, it will show that you put in some extra effort to the date and signify that there is more than meets the eye.

Romantic Floral Fashion For The Modern Bride Weddings tend to change from time to time. When a dress, venue, or hairstyle becomes popular, you will see it become a trend. The same is true with wedding flowers. Some years brides lean toward single flowers with flowing ribbons, and the next a full bouquet of rosebuds may be the hot look. The modern bride wants the best there is to offer.

This year there are some exciting trends. Many of these have not been seen before and some have a modern twist to selections used generations ago. You are sure to find the floral fashion you are looking for a ultra-chic and modern look.

Decore

There is nothing more beautiful or more romantic than stepping through the threshold of a wedding venue that is draped in greenery and blooms. This is called a “Statement Of Entrance”. They are being seen in all the elegant wedding venues.

Hanging flowers are also on the list for wedding decor this year. Baskets of hanging flowers with vines and greenery hanging in the air above the reception table, alter or arches are on everyone's list.

Bridal bouquet

The bridal bouquet is anything but quiet. Very large, oversized bouquets are the fashion for 2017. There is little in the way of accessories. It is all about the flowers. The look of homegrown or fresh picked flowers is the favorite. The look is that mother nature sent the flowers just for her.

The flowers are fully bloomed in jewel tones or shocking hot pink. The oversized flower crown is replacing the veil. This offsets the latest in wedding gowns. Brides are wearing soft dresses with less fluff this year. The colors that are most popular for wedding gowns is champagne or ivory. However, many brides are walking down the aisle in smokey gray. You can see bridal gowns like this here.

Bridesmaids

The bridesmaid arrangements are to offset the bride. This can be done with a smaller version of the large and colorful bouquet she is carrying or with the opposite. That means the bride has the vibrant colors and larger than life flowers while the bridesmaid carries a few white blooms in a lush bed of greenery. The smaller flower crown is also acceptable for this bridesmaid, but no head piece at all is trending a bit more.

Flower party

With the natural, fresh picked look being the goal, many brides are making it a party. The bride, bridesmaids, and florists get together the day before the wedding with the selections chosen and with a little help from the florist, each girl makes her own bouquet. You will probably want to do this at the flower shop after hours or at least allow the florist to refrigerate the flowers overnight and deliver them to the wedding for safe keeping.

From the beach wedding to the formal wedding in a cathedral, 2017 will go down as the year of the flower. The selections work well with the country (barn) wedding or in your grandmother’s church. So get the flowers you love and don’t restrict yourself. Anything goes.

Looking as Good as your Flowers When you run a small business, sometimes the work just piles so high you forget about the details. As an owner of a small flower shop, though, you can’t afford to let details like your personal appearance slip past you. It becomes increasingly important the longer your shop is in operation that you maintain a perfect personal appearance.

Most people pay great attention to how they look during their soft and grand openings. People rightly assume that customers will assess their personal appearance in determining whether they care about their business and how much attention they put into selecting and presenting product to customers. These assumptions remain true long after opening weeks, month, or even year, however. It’s important that you maintain your personal appearance for as long as your business doors remain open, because customers will develop an opinion about you and your business over a long period of time. The time in which your customers observe you and comment on your business isn’t just opening week, but as long as your business is open.

As such, you’ll need to make sure you stay well-dressed every time you open your doors for business. You can’t afford to stay in grubby clothes that you used to unload delivery trucks, sweep out the back dock, or take old stock to the garbage dumpster. Dress in some snazzy clothes with help from Groupon Coupons for Avenue to show your clients that you care about how you look and you will win their repeat business visit after visit.

Of course, as a small business owner you are thinking about whether or not you have room in your budget to be spend money on clothing. Sure, it’s important to make sure your shop looks great, including investing in fantastic inventory. But if you don’t invest in your employees, namely yourself, your business is never going to have the chance to take off.

You need to take the time and little bit of money to invest in your appearance and it will pay off hugely. Your customers will come back regularly for flowers at a shop whose owner obviously cares about appearances.

5 Things to Consider When Selecting Flowers for a Winter Wedding We may associate blushing brides with spring and summer, and these certainly tend to be the most popular times of year to hold a wedding. But plenty of couples elect to use the winter season as a backdrop for their nuptials, not to mention using their holiday time off for their honeymoon. Of course, the challenges of planning a winter wedding are a little different than an event held in summer. First and foremost, an indoor wedding and reception are a must if you want a colder climate to play host to your nuptials. And you’ll have to figure out how to work around the difficulties of travel, not only for out-of-town guests, but also when shuttling between venues. As for other issues you’ll have to figure out, flowers might be at the top of your list. Here are just a few things you’ll have to take into consideration when selecting flowers for a winter wedding.

  1. Seasonal options. When you’re having a winter wedding you can quickly get sucked into the trap of relying on winter plants, which is to say, those that are prevalent around the holidays or come in holiday colors. But instead of decking the church with calla lilies and poinsettias and festooning your reception with mistletoe, you should know that the winter season allows for a wide variety of floral options. You may not have easy access to blooms like lilacs, daffodils, or tulips that tend to blossom in spring, or the dahlias that dominate the summer season. But most winter brides aren’t interested in the pastels of spring or the hotter hues of summer. If you want flowers that tend to be in season throughout the year, stick with roses, orchids, and perhaps even the calla lilies popular during the winter months. You should have no trouble locating these seasonal beauties and you can enjoy the richer tones that will better compliment winter lighting.
  2. Winter whites. The most beautiful and sophisticated winter weddings adopt a winter white theme that lends an ethereal atmosphere to the proceedings. With hues ranging from bright white to ecru, eggshell, ivory, and cream, you can create a nuanced palette of whites that will give you the chic and stylish look you crave. And finding white flowers in winter should be a cinch.
  3. Your wedding colors. The colors you choose for a winter wedding will obviously have some effect on your floral arrangements. As for color palettes that are traditional, white and red are the classic combo, with darker reds hues tending to dominate. But blue/purple options that mimic the lighting of the winter season are also popular.
  4. Your location. If you live in a cold climate or you’ve chosen to host your winter wedding amongst snow-covered peaks, consider that laying your hands on flowers may not be as easy as, say, in a tropical locale. For this reason you need to carefully coordinate with your on-site florist to make sure that he/she can arrange to have the flowers you select available for your wedding.
  5. Cost. Availability is not the only issue when it comes to your floral selection: cost is also an important factor. And since your options are somewhat limited, selecting out-of-season flowers or those that must be shipped in from elsewhere is obviously going to increase your expense. If you’ve already picked the perfect dress from Allure Bridals, you’ve put a deposit on the venue, and your other ducks are in a row, you simply might not have the budget on hand for additional floral expenses. Luckily, you should have access to plenty of seasonal flowers that can help you to cut costs a bit.

5 Tips for Using Flowers to Stage a Home Preparing a home for sale is no simple task. Not only will you have to bring in a home inspector to tell you what must be repaired before you can even think about listing your property, but you’ll probably find all kinds of cosmetic issues that could easily tank the sale of your home if they’re not addressed. Aside from clearing out the clutter that you’ve accumulated during your time in the home, including personal items and even furniture, you’ll likely have to paint and install new flooring (or offer buyers monetary compensation to correct these oversights). You might even want to update fixtures or add some curb appeal in a bid to make your home more attractive to prospective buyers. In short, a lot of work goes into staging your home before you start showing it. And one thing you may have overlooked is what flowers can add to your staging strategy. Here are just a few tips to use these fragrant blooms to your best advantage when selling your home.

  1. Treat them like an accessory. There are all kinds of adornments you can use to complete the look of your home. For example, throws and pillows can spice up a boring couch while a bare dining room table should feature at least a centerpiece, if not full service with artfully arranged plates, glasses, napkins, and silverware. The idea is to allow prospective homeowners to see the possibilities inherent in the home by providing a glimpse of what it will look like when tastefully decorated. Flowers can contribute to the overall picture, but only when used appropriately. So choose floral arrangements that enhance the rooms they’re in, including color, scope, and size. Like any accessory, they need to match the rest of the décor.
  2. Consider allergies. Plenty of people are allergic to plants, and flowers in particular. But you can avoid triggering allergic reactions in a couple of ways. First, you can steer clear of flowers that are known to induce allergic reactions; chrysanthemums, daisies, and sunflowers are amongst the most common culprits. But you can also ask your florist for blooms that are female. Since they don’t produce pollen they are far less likely to trigger allergies in prospective buyers visiting your property.
  3. Common scents. Some flowers are more fragrant than others, but this may not necessarily be a good thing. Too much aroma can be overwhelming, so instead of filling your home with cloying scents like gardenia, jasmine, or lilac, consider implementing a mix of flowers, some fragrant and some relatively odorless so that you don’t offend sensitive sniffers. And keep in mind that common scents, like roses, are more likely to appeal to a broad range of buyers, especially if the scent is subtle rather than overpowering.
  4. Cost. You could easily spend a ton of dough on floral arrangements to complement your home, but you don’t have to go all out in order to make a statement or spice up a boring space. You could trim roses from the bushes in your front yard or stick a handful of wildflowers in a mason jar to achieve a particular effect. Or you could opt for arrangements that feature a couple of spectacular blooms accented by inexpensive filler (roses and baby’s breath, lilies and greenery, etc.). Either way, you’ll save some money and still add a nice accent to your staging efforts.
  5. Potted or cut. If you’ve noticed a lot of Raleigh homes for sale lately and you’re looking at the prospect of an extended sale period, you might want to spend a bit more on potted plants that will last for the weeks or months of home viewings ahead of you. But if properties like yours are relatively rare and they’re selling like hotcakes, cut flowers could end up costing you less in the short-term.

5 Popular Types of Flowers for Summer Weddings Flowers set the tone for every wedding ceremony and reception. They allow you to coordinate color schemes and bring the whole decor of your event together in a cohesive manner. Floral arrangements are beautiful and come in multiple varieties. Here are 5 of the most popular flower types of flowers to consider for your summer wedding.

  1. Sunflowers are a classic flower for the summer months. Sunflowers are vibrant and joyful and can set the tone for your big day. The yellow color and large nature of sunflower make them pop and are unique to the summer season. They do not come in other colors, but yellow definitely signifies summer and the sun. Try pairing sunflowers with another complimentary flower such as Black-eyed-Susans to reduce the sunflower from being too dramatic or overpowering.
  2. You can never go wrong with roses. Roses always make a beautiful flower arrangement for a traditional look and style. You can choose from a variety of colors that will work with any color scheme and decor. In addition, roses are much cheaper to purchase from a florist during the summer months, which could save you a great deal of money on your floral arrangement budget. Roses will look fantastic alone or in coordination with other types of flowers depending on your personal preference. Roses stand for love and happiness, so their symbolic nature is relevant as well.
  3. Calla Lilies look sophisticated and stunning. They are available in an array of colors such as white, deep burgundy, peach, purple, and yellow. Stick with the brighter, summer-like colors for a dramatic impact. Calla Lillies can easily be cut short or left long. Either way they will look beautiful in your flower arrangements.
  4. Hydrangeas also come in some great colors such as pink, white, blue, and purple, providing you with variety and many options to choose from. Also, they come in large blooms, which can fill up your arrangement for a full look without having to spend as much or purchase as many flowers. Mophead Hydrangeas are usually ideal because of their larger, wide, and round shape however other Hydrangea options are out there. Hydrangeas are very classy and delicate and will make a great addition to any floral arrangement or can stand on their own.
  5. Finally, Gerberas are a festive summer option. These actually resemble sunflowers in shape but come in many different colors. Also, Gerberas are often much cheaper to purchase which is ideal for a tight budget. Despite the cheap price tag they will be sure to look magnificent at your wedding in vibrant colors like yellow, purple, coral and more. You can also choose from multiple sizes so these flowers are somewhat “custom” ordered to your taste!

After you’ve decided upon and venue and wedding invitation verses, you can start deciding how you will decorate for your big day and make it truly special. Flower arrangements are a great way to brighten up a room during the summer months and add your specific style.

How to Select the Best Flowers for a Winter Wedding According to many wedding experts, the most popular months for a wedding to take place are June and October. However, that doesn’t mean that you have to follow tradition. If you happen to be someone who simply loves the holiday season or there is some kind of sentimental significance behind getting married during the wintertime, we say “Go for it!” After all, is there anything more beautiful than a bride in white in the midst of a winter wonderland?

Now, if we do offer one word of caution it would be this: It’s important to select some flowers that correlate with the season of your festivities. Otherwise, you could find yourself either not having the kind of bouquets and decorations that you are truly complementary for your wedding or you may end up spending a ton of money in the process.

So, how do you go about selecting the best flowers for your winter wedding? We’re so glad that you asked. Check our five tips out below:

Think about where you want them. There are some people who only want flowers for the bouquets and boutonnieres, while others desire that both the wedding venue and reception hall be filled with them. Based on the category that you fall into, that is going to help to determine what kind of flowers to select, so write down your “floral wish list” first and then build from there.

Do some online research. Thanks to the internet, you can find out all kinds of information concerning the kinds of flowers that are ideal for the winter season. Some of them include Snowdrops, Lady Slipper Orchids, Poinsettias, Tulips, Sweet Peas, Carnations and the Christmas Rose, just to name a few.

Consult with a florist. Once you have some kind of idea of the types of flowers that are available during the winter season, it’s then time to make a call to a couple of florists in your area. There are a few reasons why this is a good idea. One is so you can find out if they have the flowers that you prefer. Another reason is to hear about some other recommendations that they might have. Still another is to get an idea of what the pricing will be. This brings us to the next point.

Figure out your budget. It can be really tempting to pay for a room full of orchids, but that’s also a surefire way to break your budget too. In coming to a decision about which flowers are best for your wedding, have a couple of options in mind. For instance, you might want to make the bridal bouquet full of Christmas Roses while having the bridesmaids hold a bouquet of poinsettias or carnations. It’s still pretty but it’s much cheaper.

Price the flowers out. When it comes to wedding flowers, florists tend to charge a bit more during the winter months simply because some of the flowers that you might want may be harder to come by. That is why it’s also a good idea to figure out which flowers you can get yourself (again, like poinsettias and carnations) and leave the others up to the professionals. You never know, you might be able to work out a deal with your local grocery store to get a few potted poinsettia plants that could end up saving you a couple of hundred dollars easily. And that would definitely make your winter wedding floral shopping experience that much sweeter.

5 Tips for Decorating Your Home With Fake Flowers Flowers make for a wonderful addition to any décor, whether they are potted plants or fresh-cut blooms from your garden, the farmer’s market, or your favorite local florist. They fill your home with brilliant color, appealing scents, and a beautiful slice of nature within your four walls. Of course, there are also drawbacks to peppering your home with living blooms. For one thing, purchasing fresh flowers can really eat into your budget, while growing them in your garden is a lot of work. As for keeping potted plants, you must water and care for them year round. Even though you love the look of living flowers, you may be keen to get the same decorating power without all the associated hassles. In this case, you should definitely consider switching to fake flowers that need never be replaced. Here are just a few tips for the homemaker that prefers to use faux blooms.

  1. Real versus fake. So you’ve decided to decorate with fake flowers; now all you have to decide is how real you want them to look. If you’ve started looking online at all for fake blooms to purchase, you’ve no doubt come to the realization that all fake flowers are not created equal. Not only do they come in a wide variety of colors, configurations, and materials, but the prices can also vary widely. And the type of flower you want to emulate and the expense you’re willing to take on could play a significant role in just how realistic your blooms look. On the other hand, you might be keen to decorate specifically with flowers that look fake, in which case you could end up saving some cost.

  2. Location. Before you start looking for flower arrangements to purchase, you might want to think about where you’re going to place this pretty décor. Perhaps you want a large statement piece in your foyer. Or maybe you’d like something to grace your dinner table or sideboard. You could also place small bouquets in guest rooms, or even hang bunches above door frames or family photos. This may affect the type, size, and variety of fake flowers you purchase.

  3. DIY paper blooms. You might have noticed that paper blooms, both realistic and artistic in nature, have become fairly popular for events and as permanent home décor. But you don’t necessarily need to spend an arm and a leg to have a company create these for you. It turns out that with little more than a few supplies from the craft store, you can make your own professional looking paper flowers. You’ll probably want a die cutter and some flowery plates, as well as stiff paper in a variety of colors and patterns, tacks, pipe cleaners (or wire), and perhaps some craft glue depending on your preferred method of assembly. However, you could also make do with scissors and paper from magazines or old books, or with tissue paper, for example. The possibilities are endless for the crafty, DIY florist.

  4. Silk flowers. There’s just no denying that silk flowers tend to be the most attractive and realistic looking products when it comes to fake blooms. So if your goal is to make people wonder if your plants are real (at least until they get up close), this is certainly the way to go. Of course, it may also be the most expensive option, but think about how much you spend on fresh flowers now and you might see it as a wise investment.

  5. Making arrangements. Once you’ve got your flowers, you’ll simply have to decide how to arrange them. And if you need some help, check out tutorials online (there’s a whole art form to it), pick up a book on the subject, or simply look at some of the many samples available on photo-sharing social sites like Pinterest.
