Farmers find flower planting more profitable
Cultivating flowers from cropsFarmers of the Trilochonpur union in Jhenidah district have switched over to cultivating flowers from crops like paddy and jute, because it has been proved more profitable to them. Flowers, which can be cultivated three times a year, are improving the financial conditions of the farmers of the area. Drop in flower sales Florists in the city expect a 20% drop in flower sales due to the double celebration of Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day this year.Flower shop owner Ann Yong, who has been in the business for more than 12 years, said sales were expected to dip next month as the festivals were usually celebrated separately.
